CCC are proud to announce their collaboration with Little Miracles, a Peterborough based charity providing vital services such as friendship, a shoulder to cry on, practical support, advice and play space for local disabled children. They are invaluable to parents whose children have special physical and mental needs, or who have recently lost their child to illness and disability, and they rely on funding bids and donations in order to continue their work. None of their staff is paid, instead depending on voluntary assistance, usually from parents and charitable organisations for services such as counselling and support work. In the words of one parent helper,
“I am so proud to be part of this amazing charity, it has changed mine and Jessica’s life for the better, without little miracles I have no idea where I would be right now.”
Outreach work can often take an emotional toll on the volunteer, and so CCC is pleased to be able to offer free Volunteer Wellbeing Support for their four Community Support Workers each fortnight to help to relieve the pressures of taking on the problems of others. Under the scheme, each worker will have the opportunity to discuss their feelings and issues with a fully trained supervisory counsellor in a safe, confidential environment, helping them to decipher the best way forward for the families they are helping.
