CHAIR OF CCC

This role is voluntary and unpaid but is an excellent opportunity for anyone with senior management/board level experience to contribute to charitable good in their local community.

     

Cambridgeshire Consultancy in Counselling, (CCC), has been providing professional counselling services since 1978 and has a successful track record in four main areas:

  • counselling for private individuals
  • continuing professional development (CPD) training courses for CCC members and other professionals
  • counselling services for organisations
  • training and workshops for organisations

 

Your role will be to:

  • chair the meetings of the Management Group and Trustees who will steer the direction of the charity to ensure long term financial stability and continued public benefit in line with the charity's aims.  
  • provide leadership and strategic direction to the board of Trustees to enable them to fulfil their responsibilities and follow appropriate governance
  • ensure that the Management Group and Trustees pursue their aims and objectives in line with the policies of the Charities Commission and UK law
  • create a strong and effective team of management, trustees and members who work collaboratively and efficiently to fulfil the aims of the charity
  • review periodically the performance of the organisation and ensure that agreed changes are carried out

 

Attendance is required at both Management Meetings (held every 6-8 weeks on a Saturday morning) and at occasional Trustee meetings as required.  The Chair is also required to check their e-mails and respond to telephone queries regularly in line with client and organisational need.

 

The ideal candidate will have previous experience of operating at a senior level, managing budgets and interpreting financial reports as well as leading and motivating teams.  Experience of a therapeutic or clinical environment would be beneficial though not essential.  They should be professional and organised, with a keen interest in public benefit and prior experience of committee/trustee work or running a club.  They should be able to relate to people on all levels and represent the charity as an ambassador at public events.  This role requires a fine balance of tact and a willingness to challenge and criticise contructively.  Good judgement, reliability and impartiality, as well as the seven principles are public office are essential:  selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership.
