CCC is pleased to announced that the Trustees have elected Dr John May as the new Chair of the charity.
John has previously worked in the public, private and voluntary sectors. His charity and voluntary sector experience includes a spell as interim Managing Director of ChildLine in its very early days, co-founder of the North London Chinese Association, CEO of the London Communities Policing Partnership, Chair of the Hertfordshire Citizens Advice Service, Trustee and Finance Committee Chair of the Bedfordshire Rural Communitites Charity, and (as a volunteer) consultant to Community Impact Bucks.
He has also chaired the Patients Liaison Group of the British Medical Association and a syndicate of narrow boat owners. He is a keen boater - which some say, explains the beard - it doesn't!
John was attracted to CCC because he believes his management and charity experience will be beneficial to an organisation which is at a crossroads in its development. After 40 years in operation, CCC is looking to expand and broaden its reach in terms of providing those in need with the best quality of support, and John will be instrumental in determining the how best to serve the community in this aim.
Not a counsellor himself, John shares the committment of CCC members to providing counselling at affordable rates to those who need them. He looks forward to working with all CCC members to create a structure that it fit for purpose, and setting a direction for continued growth and success.
